View Full Version : How to backup dreamweaver CS3?

03-16-2008, 11:04 AM
I have been trying for days now and can't find any information on how to backup DW CS3.
Google has some odd sites that have nothing useful.

Is it just a directory with some 'reg' files?
I know of MM-Exporter for Dreamweaver 3, 4, UD4, MX, MX 2004 and DW8 but not CS3.
I am so paranoid , I don't want to lose any of my settings, extensions and so on, I need to remove DW CS3 in order to install Photoshop CS3 (this is Adobe)

CS3Clean.exe is a tool that can fix this issue for CS3 users but have to lose my DW CS3 data, settings and all.

Any helpful ideas? :)

Scrap that one,
I went ahead removed everything from Adobe(Dreamweaver included :( ) and with "NO" success to getting PhotoShop CS3 installed.
Now I can't seem to understand why Adobe creates such bad installers!

How do I get PhotoShop CS3 installed?
Is there a patch or something that I need?

export your sites via the site manager

That's already done.
I have a fair idea of Dreamweaver, been using for some time.

It's not the sites I care about, it's the settings, extensions and setup.

I have lost it all anyway, still can't get PS3 installed.
By the way,
I have opened three cases with Adobe, each time it gets withdrawn from them?

Cheers and thanks

in *think* you can copy the config folder from where your install is
something like
E:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS3\configuration

if you've contacted Adobe support then there's nothing else i can suggest :(

I find their support is terrible!
How are you supposed to buy the product when you can't get support for it?
Bunch of idiots!

did you buy it yet?

No all because I can't even install it!
Bunch of idiots just closed another case I opened, sorry withdrew it.

I am not a supporter of there products even though dreamweaver is all I know.

Between Microsoft and Adobe they get gold stars from me for being a bunch of idiots.

afiak you only get support when you buy it. have you emailed or complained to Adobe? they must have some system in place for that sort of thing?

have you tried backing up the config file

No I have complained,
Tried the email that they give on the site but they say I have to phone over seas to talk to support.
Dude I don't make enough money to phone anyone, let alone over seas.

Besides all that, they don't even understand what I mean.

How to backup dreamweaver with all the settings and stuff.
Case has been withdrawn.

My response (to them mentally):
 :WTF: bunch of idiots.

Another thing,
MX 2004 came with my PC and never bothered with support for it.
I got MX 8, and CS3 as updates and they wont help or can't help or don't know what help means.
I bought the old interakt crap that I still never got support for, even back then.

I gave up till PS3 problems came about.

They are just up in the arse idiots.
They need to be dropped down to a user level.

Unless it's been upgraded to support CS3, yes I do use it but it supports these:

MM-Exporter for Dreamweaver 3, 4, UD4, MX, MX 2004 and DW8 but not CS3

I was playing around with the PS3 Install and sh1t it installed.
It wants a serial which I don't have, it also wont allow me to use it for the 30 days as specified.

Then I stumbled upon something that makes no sense, my PC date is set back 1 year from today? :ODD:

I changed the date back, opened PS3 and now it says "License has expired"
This application is messed up, makes no freakin' sense (I don't have a license)

I don't want PS3 anymore "I GIVE UP" - it's too much for me to deal with.

Thank you for your help here guys.

I searched and searched, AH! finally came across these two important files (Adobe would keep this a secret)

Apparently if you delete this file then you can use PS3 free of charge, (wake me up when septemeber ends?) Don't trust this one, it's all lies.
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\AMT\application.sif

The next important file "USE WITH CARE" is the one that actually works for expired Adobe messages (again, Adobe would keep this a secret too)
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe PCD\cache\cache.db
Delete the above file, beware that you have to re-enter your registration keys, USE WITH CARE (Please do not play with this, unless you have an expired message!)
