On my site the hyperlinks are showing up underlined on some computers and other computers it does not show up underlined. I would like it to be consistent and not have hyperlinks underlined at all. Can someone help with this? My site is www.tropicpools.com (http://www.tropicpools.com)

Thanks,
Keith

Hi Keith

welcome to the forum

first i ask if its your company or if your attempting your first commercial website for a client.

If your doing this for your own company (to save a bit of cash) then please listen when i say that first impressions count. Your site is looking very amateur to say the least and this reflects on your business. If i was in the market for a pool (which is an expensive luxury in the UK) i would be looking for someone who has marked the reputation of his company quite high and has invested in a professional marketing strategy which includes a good looking site.

look at it like this...
Would a carpenter give an apprentice of a few days / weeks the job of decorating his shop window with furniture examples. Can you imagine what those examples would look like? Would those examples help sell the carpenters product

look at these sites...

http://www.h2ofun.co.uk/
http://www.londonswimmingpools.com/
http://www.appools.co.uk/

This is the level you need to achieve to attract people and give them a confidence in your product.

If you are trying your hand at web design and are doing this for a friend or family member then believe me when i say you can do more damage than good. The client should have a site already but if he is just starting out he may get a shock when you present him with your attempt!

Please don't take this the wrong way as i am sharing my advice here and i commend you on attempting this but please note my advice.

In answer to your question

Use CSS to style your links

David,

Thanks for your advice but you should understand that the site is nowhere near being finsihed and that is why I am asking about these links. In my CSS file it does not say anywhere in the code about links being underlined. Can you give me more informations on how the code should looks to not have the links underlined on all computers.

Thanks,

Keith

use the following in your css

text-decoration: none;

or

text-decoration: underline;

The professional way to start a site is to design a concept in Photoshop. A static image of what the initial design is going to look like

This image is then sliced and exported for use within Dreamweaver. Using this guide your site will spawn from this example

i admit im no CSS guru but im guessing that the capital A in your style may have an effect

change A to a

example...

you have ...

A:link {
color: #333333;
text-decoration: none;
}

try this

a:link {
color: #333333;
text-decoration: none;
}

you need to do that for all examples
