View Full Version : Help with DIV Scrolling!!!!??

Hi,

I'm new to the forum but have spent some time looking through the threads to find an answer to my problem. Hopefully somebody can help.

I'm trying to create a site where the browser scroller operates a single column of the page whilst the rest of the site (header etc) remains static. I have an example here:

I know how to add a scroll bar to a div tag but on the example above, the only scroll bar is the browser itself. Any thoughts?

I have tried nesting a DIV in a table cell but the whole browser window scrolls and jumps around not just the central column. I hope all this makes sense :)

You have everything set to position fixed, except the middle column area, which is very different that what you're looking for. You need to remove all the position: fixed styling.

You want the page to behave normally, apart from a separate div in the middle that will have scrollbars.

1. Remove all the position: fixed, because this means the area will never move with the scroll of the document.
2. For the div you want scrollbars on, follow this example:
