Hi,

I'm new to this forum and relatively new to Dreamweaver. I have used it int the past (about 6 years ago), and I've just started giving it another go for a new personal webpage.

One thing I'm quite particular about is consistency and ability to change a corporate design around very easily. That's one reason I'm using CSS.

So - I've just defined a CSS, which contains a background image and background colour in the "body" class. It all looks fine in Dreamweaver 8. But when I open the page in Safari or Firefox, the background goes back to white.

What am I doing wrong??

Thanks a lot

Maybe the page has no content? Then there would not be anything to have a background color and image for.

David,

Instead of posting the code I uploaded the site layout to the web. Strange enough, this sorted things out - though I don't know what's happening exactly:

Dreamweaver display: page & style sheets look OK
"view in Safari" from local HD: style sheets are deactivated
"view in Firefox" from local HD: style sheets are deactivated
go to domain name through the web: everything's alright.

I mean, I can live with this but I'd prefer ti understand things and not only "live with it".
