1) Are there any freebies out there that'll scan, detect and eradicate virus's on my PC?

2) How difficult/possible is it for someone (ie, a nutcase) to track another down via their IP address...or in other words, when posting on forums or sharing emails via Hotmail, can a deranged individual find out who you are and where you live?

Thanks.

the IP will only point to the host / ISP which issued it when you log on to the net and would be different each time as they are allocated when needed from an IP database. The only thing that could be derived from your IP address is the ISP your using in other words the trail will stop there.

so no not from the IP address

If you have a website and have registered the domain then by doing a WHOIS search the registered info will come back
