using maxi-vista (http://www.maxivista.com/), a couple of spare minutes and a couple of spare laptops i arrived at this work desktop configuration

these are not individual machines they are acting as multi screens driven by the master laptop through a network cable and a hub

mad as a box of frogs eh

from left to right

screen1 = database IDE

screen2 = email client

screen3 = browsers

screen4 = coding environment

The software would allow me to add one more machine to this setup but i cant find a spare one! nor is there any room left on my desk!

note: the second laptop looks dodgy in the pic. This is the result of my photo panarama stitching software on my phone. It has not been photoshoped for any other reason than optimising it

Now use Synergy, and you can just move your mouse across all screens ;-) Or does Maxi-Vista have this already?

Or just skip the whole amateur notion of having many monitors, pretending your monitor is wider, and get a huge curved one instead!

yep i have this setup

also allows me to click remote on each machine and can access the individual file system of each laptop but using only one moose! So can operate all machines individually using one keyboard and moose or can switch back to virtual screen mode and have all as one extended screen!

no wonder all the ladies love me!

im like MacGyver!
