I am building a website with a black background and the text is going to be white. The font looks as though it is heavily boldened when it is viewed in a browser. Could someone tell me how to get round this problem.

The font I am using is Arial but it could be another similar font if need be.

I am producing the site on a Mac with DW 9.0 and browsing through Safari and Firefox.

Many Thanks, Tom

Hi Dave, My url is www.macsolutions.co.uk (http://www.macsolutions.co.uk) I have uploaded just the index page with dead links. I am trying to make the text look crisp instead of the bloated look it has at present. Also how do I get rid of the white border at the bottom of the background. I would also be grateful for any comments you could give me to on building my site as it is my first attempt with DW.

I have also uploaded a jpg of my .psd index page at http://www.macsolutions.co.uk/macsolutions-site.jpg to show how the fonts should look.
Many Thanks
Tom

Hi Dave, Sorry about that, a glitch with the ISP server. All is well now.

the font you're using in your stylesheet is Tahoma, and it looks fine in firefox, but in safari (also on windows) it looks heavy. try using a different font and specifying more than one like
font-family: Geneva, Tahoma, sans-serif, sans-serif;

there's some common fonts here
http://www.ampsoft.net/webdesign-l/WindowsMacFonts.html

as to why it is like that i'm not sure - could be the mac version of tahoma looks bolder than win version (and maybe safari on pc emulates this??)
