View Full Version : Creating a Website to be viewed offline

I would like to create a website that can be viewed from a CD/DVD for mac/PC.

This seems like something that would be extremely simple to do (I've used DW to build live sites), but I can't find anything about it in any DW books.

Can anyone help me out with this, or maybe recommend a book or website that will show me how this can be done?

If it's supposed to run of a CD, why even bother with web pages. There is no benefit to this approach, and conceptually it's just weird :)

Create a website, copy over all the files to the CD, and create an autorun file. Google 'autorun' for specifics.

I agree with Dom - this way has kinda gotten old school. Most studies now show that the average person will not take the time to put the cd / dvd in their computer of player. Websites are immediate and quick and you can all but guarantee that they will work. AOL was the founder of this concept and even they have recognized this change - and they were giving free things away.

Having said that, if this is some sort of training tool or you are going to sell it, that's a little different.
