Hi,

I am new to your forum and been using Dreamweaver rather modestly. I do not know the "sounds and bells" of it, but I would like to learn. Any help is appreciated and I hope to help others some day.

Question
roll over text: how can I bring a picture to show when one moves the mouse pointer over certain portion of text?

Would such "roll over text picture option" be "display friendly" for browsers or would this option be mostlikely blocked by popup blockers?

Thanks

Popups are separate browser windows opening.
You can easily get around this by showing an image on your page instead when you mouseover some text. Look into the show/hide function in your behaviors panel. That's all you need.

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. So it is considered a popup while showing only as one points the mouse pointer on it?

My project is a description of a 21 days tour. There are many activities per day. Each activity needs a picture as a support. When pointing to the text of each activity I was asked to show a picture. Can you help?

Greetings

[quote=netcucu;131510]Hi,

Thanks for your answer.
1.) So it is considered a popup while showing only as one points the mouse pointer on it?

2.) My project is a description of a 21 days tour. There are many activities per day. Each activity needs a picture as a support. When pointing to the text of each activity I was asked to show a picture. Can you help?

Someone suggested the following html solution but I do not understand completely and do not know where exactly, in a given page, to copy this html text to.

Let's say I have two lines of text and two corresponding pictures like this:
-snowboarding in the morning (picture for it: snow)
-inkatrek all day long (picture for it: trek)

Here is the suggested solution that I do not know to complete. Can you help with this html code:

>>>>>>>a image-holder within a div.
(<div id="showme"> <img name="showit" src="" width="128" height="128" alt="">. </div> and set showme initially invisible.

Put the word you like to show the picture with into a <span id="nowthis" onMouseOver="showthis(this);">text</span...

in the function showthis(catchit){ } you could load into showit the picture, make showme.top equal to nowthis.top, do the same with left and then make showme visible.

Do not forget to set showme again invisible when the mouse leaves nowthis.<<<<<<<

So it is considered a popup while showing only as one points the mouse pointer on it? No, that's a tooltip :) A popup is usually considered a new Javascript opened browser window, with some of the browsers features turned off (address bar etc)

If you don't understand HTML and Javascript, you can't use the code given to you above. Unless you take some time to learn it, use a DW solution instead and read the manual/help file on Show/Hide.

Thanks, for the explanation on the tooltip.

I did search the web for a solution to this tooltip, and not much I found because most of the projects relate to roll over pictures, picture to picture. Ja, ok I got you, and I will keep looking.

In that sense look for the sunshine and keep smiling:grin:

this might be useful - http://boxover.swazz.org/ and there's an example with pictures in here http://boxover.swazz.org/example.html (where it says 'images in boxover'

Thanks, I will try and let you know.

I tried it, and it worked just fine. Unfortunately, it gets blocked by popup protection of IE. Many thanks for your help again.

does it get blocked when you view it live after you've published it??

a lot of content is blocked locally so you need to view it when you've published it either as a real page or as a test page
