Hi all.
I'm, 100% new to dreamweaver and can't even get started http://images.devshed.com/fsc/smilies/icon_neutral.gif

When I create a new page and try change the background colour nothing happens.

I click on page properties - background colour -then I pick a colour - click apply and nothing happens and then click ok and still nothing happens.

(I've bought dreamweaver cs3 for dummies) and even looked on the net before getting the book and both say the same way (which the would) http://images.devshed.com/fsc/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif but I'm having no luck...

What’s going on??

HELP please

thanks

There is nothing wrong with your code. That will display a blue background-color in all browsers.

But why does the background stay white?
Do i have to preview it to see it as blue?

In your browser, click on the icon that looks like a circular arrow. This will then refresh the page to pick up the latest changes to your page with the new code.

wait, hold on a sec, what do you mean if you have to preview it to see it as blue? how else would you see it?

After this:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style type="text/css">
<!--
body {
background-color: #333399;
}
-->
</style></head>
<body>
</body>
</html>You click 'Design' right........?
Or save your document, then click that little Earth, and choose your browser.

don't you use the inline dictionary for firefox or do you use a different browser??

you can be quite lazy in your typing and it will highlight the words for you and offer corrections ;)
