View Full Version : Where are all the site definitions stored?

I have a new PC and don't want to redefine all the FTP details for my sites ...

I guess there must be some sort of config file I can copy over from the old PC ....

Thanks in advance for any suggestions...

Hi Rick,

Hopefully you still have your old PC and have not reformatted it!!

If so, open Dreamweaver and go to Site/Manage Sites. In the dialogue highlight the site you wish to back up and click on Export. Select 'Back Up My Settings' and save the file to your Desktop or a Back Up folder. Then burn it to a disk or a Flash drive. Once you have installed Dreamweaver on your new PC again click on Site/Manage Sites and this time choose Import and navigate to the file you made before. This should do the trick.

Obviously you will have to back up your site files and copy them to disk too and transfer them to the new machine first.

Good luck! Let me know if this helps.

Regards, Paul

Thanks for that ... seems I have to do this for every site I have defined.

Is there a way to export all the site definitions in one go?

Not that I am aware of. Unless you have loads and loads it doesnt take that long. Back you site files up together with your site defs put them all on the same disk. ( I put the defs in the site folder for each site or you could have a separate folder for them. Once you have them on the new PC it takes seconds per site.

Good luck.
