Hated it - Wayne Brothers - In Living Color

Never used iFrames. Are they common? What are the +'s and -'s of them?
I know FireFox doesn't support them.

iframes are somewhat common. They're supported in all modern browsers, including FF. They've been used a lot in order to create scrollbars on areas on webpages, but we know that we can just make div's with height, width and overflow: scroll to get the same effect using CSS which is more appropriate than making new html documents to embed into the page through iframe.

If for any reason you ever want to include an external page into your content, iframe is a viable option.

That is exactly right dom. However you can't target div scroll's. so if you want the content to change that you will have to use and iframe.

With the Document Object Model, DOM you can change anything :) innerHTML or AJAX. or even show/hide layers. Most of the time you would load another page for more content, no?

yes

you need to use the DOM

document.getElementById('element_id').innerHTML = "<div>replacement content</div>";
