View Full Version : Adding a searchable database to a website.

I've been asked to add a searchable database to a model agency website.
They've got a basic website but wan't to add a searchable database for people to search through their models.
I assume php and MySQL is the way forward here.
I've just finished a web development course where we dabbled in php and MySQL. We only touched on it and I know a little about php.
Is this a relatively straight forward task or is it something that'd be well outta my league?
Any help and advice gratefully received.

what are they wanting to search on?

They need to search through the models. There would be a number of catergories I suppose, such as sex, age etc.
I would probably use drop down boxes.

Yupp, agree. this is a perfect one for starting out. This will tech you how to set up your DB and DB users, and save, edit and display your dynamic data.

Cheers for the advice fellas.
I watched your tutorials a while ago dj, but will watch them again to refresh my memory and have a crack at it.
Just bought this (http://www.sitepoint.com/books/phpmysql1/) book so hopefully that will help me out as well.
