I installed xampp on my computer, just to see what it was like, but then noticed it took up quite alot of cpu usage - so uninstalled it -
went into dreamweaver, and now I cant preview in browser.

The local root folder i have placed on my desktop - / host directory = public_html/ testing servers file location, the same as local root -
Ok when i go to preview in browser i get = http://localhost/zcorner1.lbi / zcornerl.lbi just being the file name of a file i created that is stored in the root folder, as im sure you know - so the message i get is, always the same, http://localhost/ --- and then the browser says - Internet exploer can not display page. I tried un installing dweaver and re installing, but it seems to have retained the info, i.e. site information, like a repair, although i did a full uninstall and install. I dont know what to do. Is it something i have installed on my computer.

Oh, and just on an off shoot, anyone got an opinion on xampp.
To whom ever helps me, thank you so much.

I have been using XAMPP from long time and find it easiest way to get your development environment running.

CPU usage not sure but seems fair to me.

for your localhost problem not sure what you are developing but when you configure a site in dreamweaver you set the testing server parameters which is localhost or FTP.

if localhost, you need testing environment like xampp running and so that you can sun your scripts. (http://localhost/)
if FTP, than it picks the URL prefix and runs it on your webserver.

now solution i think, install XAMPP and than give the right path.

If you are not going to reinstall Xampp...

Open site manager, edit your site and change testing server to "none"
