My host uses Microsoft servers and uses the DotNetPanel. We have had brief conversations about this.

Is there a specific linux host that any of you guys know of and can help me get DB set up with so i can have my php scripts actually work? :-P

it doesnt matter what country they are in

if you used my tutorials and are familiar with EMS MYSQL Manager then you can use that to connect and port your database across

The only thing about hosting I want to say here is that it's a commodity, so make sure you're willing to shop around and switch hosting company. 1and1 offers great product, very great network (some of the very best), but service that is not so good.
