Hi Everyone

Ok,I'm sure this is something very simple but I can't seem to make any headway. I'm simply trying to create a link from a layer to another page. I click the layer to bring up the properties page and there is the box called "link" that allows me to browse to one of my html pages, and there's also the "point to file" icon that lets me drag to a highlighted html page in my files page on the right hand side. This is where it goes wrong. It doesn't matter if I browse to a page or I drag the "point to file" icon to the file......nothing gets saved in my link window - it just stays blank.
However, I can put some text on any page, highlight it, and I'm able to create a link that can be saved. But for some reason when I click on a layer and try to enter a link in the "link box", nothing get's saved in that window. It just stays blank. Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
Thanks so much for any insight anyone can give.

-Tim

You can't "link" to a layer.
Only can "link" to text or image

Thanks Mike for your help. I really appreciate it. I'm now wondering a few things though. If I can't link to a layer, than does that mean I can't link to a image inside a layer? I seem to be able to link to text inside a layer, but not an image.
If this is all true, than am I in trouble trying to make button images and place them on a layer.

Thanks Mike,

-Tim

In that case, select the image rather than the layer, and create the link.

As Cary said, hilight the image, then in property manager enter your link info

OK, this all makes perfect sense, but for some reason it's not working for me. So this is exactly what I'm experiencing. I create a layer. When I select the layer, the properties page on the bottom appears and I have the option to adjust the L, T, W, and H, and also select the background color or image. So next I choose a background image. Now when I click the image in the layer a properties page comes up below and I have options to change the format, the font, and I also have a box where I can browse to a link. So this is where I attemp to set up the link. However, no matter if I browse to a link or use the "point to file" icon to drag to a page in my site panel on the right, nothing gets saved in the link window - it just stays blank. Is this where you're suggesting I create the link from?

Thanks for you patience with me.

It sounds like you're just selecting a layer with a background image rather than an actual embedded image. This won't work.

The image needs to be embedded in the code using something like this:

<img src="images/logo.jpg" alt="Company Name" width="200" height="150">

Then you can select that embedded image and use properties to make it into a link.

You guys rock! I was just selecting the background image instead of the actual image. I found if I drug the image onto the layer it would offer a new properties page that would allow me to put a link on it. Thanks you guys for pointing me in the right direction. Cheers! -Tim
