what is the path to you image in your code? <img src="images/image.gif" />
your browser will look in folder images for image.gif. if this is written differently or that folder or image is not on the server it cant find it.

you need to define the extension of the image using a dot!!
<img src="imagen/001.gif" alt="" width="72" height="71"/>
and you have a directory called imagen. Is this correct?

domedia

oregon, you need to read a HTML tutorial or two. the pasted link code you gave first was a complete mess and not HTML :-(

yes, and it is in the root directory.
C:\InetPub\wwwroot\insideud4\imagen

and in the code it's like that

<td width="33%" valign="bottom"><a href="<A href="http://localhost/insideud4/imagen"><img">http://localhost/insideud4/imagen"><img src="imagen/001.gif" alt="" width="72" height="71" border="0" usemap="#mpBottontex" />

<img src="imagen/001.jpg" alt="" width="72" height="71"/>

as David said with dot, sorry a typo error. Your code is wrong. If you are unsure delete the link and with DW insert an image and it will produce the correct code

you need to learn HTML before you learn wizard driven applications

this is not targeted at you pesonally oregon_sv just generally

This has got to be the biggest cause of nubee error through out web development. And just to rub salt in the wound when they get stuck they expect a coder to pull them out of it by writing a solution for them.

i am getting really annoyed about this.

i am getting really annoyed about this.

No neeed david, no need.

Do we know if the poster has defined the site?
Has the poster got the Dreamweaver update 8.02 if the problem is occuring with FTP then the updater will sort most problem out (omitting bad coding of course)

Thats just for a start

It wasnt this post or this thread that got me wound up it was from a previous post. It wasnt good enough that i offered to teach the user. They just wanted a solution to a problem

I am amazed by what these poor posters don't know but expect things to work...:(

i understand everyone has to start somewhere
i can remember when i first clasped eyes on HTML and nearly passed out. That is not my gripe

what i hate out of all this is where a user uses DW to write code. Fair enough. Then they get stuck. Then you offer a code snippet to help but because code might as well be alien they dont know what to do with it so how do you help that person? They dont want to learn to code so the only thing left is to supply the solution and tell them where to paste it.

i had a decent chap on here this morning. Using DW to write PHP he found its weakness. I offered a hand in explaining away the fog of php but was turned down in favor of looking for an extension!

geeesh. dont know why i bother sometimes

We do it to help other less fortunate people but... Sigh.. it does'nt always work out that way.

Anyway I am off to watch neighbours...lmaooooooooo and have evening meal. Catcha later David.

Hello Oregon,

Its ok you will learn web design just not this morning. What edbr meant was when your image is in your files (right hand side) which is basicly your defined site, called whatever mine is called kate (lower case) then this is where DW gets the image from. Do you understand this bit?

Now lets say we have text. We now want a beautiful image of paris (could be any image) then we either drag and drop it in ( have you heard of dragndrop its the same thing). now when we look at code you will see the code (rememeber what edbr said) that DW has inserted a code so you will have a similar code to this:

<img src="../millie/angelwatch.gif" width="177" height="300" /> A small box pops up for the alt text but click the image and if its avaialable I can call my image Angelwatch globe. We use the alt tag so people who use a text only browser will know there is an image there. Also its for blind and partly sighted so important to get used to using it please.

So now you have seen my code which will have been the same as yours.Sometimes you will also at times see this chunk of code in the design &nbsp that is just a space. Choose Edit --> Preferences? --> General --> Editing Options: Allow Multiple Consecutive Spaces if you don't want those. This is only in DWMX.

At your host make sure your image is in the folder/directory you have decided to use along with every single thing for the site. Someone once told me to call the folder at host 'assets' which I did.

Get back to us if you need to ask more questions.

i dont understand,
well, but it is a different to run a asp file and HTML file.
'couse both has the same code, and the html file runs good but the other not.

thanks

asp is very different from HTML

you need an asp environment for asp to run

a web server (IIS)
and an understanding of how it all works

a scripting language like asp allows you to program the web server to do stuff like interact with a database or send emails and lots of other stuff.
