View Full Version : linking to a url

07-13-2007, 11:13 AM
Here i have been having some difficulties. When i want to link to a url; in DW I select my text and then on my properties editor i write the actual link i want to link to ; this gives me the link on the same browser window.
And if I apply a behavior to that same piece of text to open on a new browser window, it does, but also on the page i'm at also goes to that url; so i loose my page and have to hit the back button . . .
I want to have the link to that url in a new window without loosing where i'm at the moment.
Any suggestion in what to do?

you guys should use xhtml standards

therefor it will become:

<p>text text <a href="http://www.google.com" title="google" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">This is a link</a></p>

why is that better?

its better because its adhearing to the standard of your doc type (in my case xhtml 1.0 strict)

target="_blank" is not valid in xhtml.
