Hello everyone.

I have an autostrech cell in the layout mode with an image inside. I want to embed a flash movie in a certain point in the image. not in an absolute position but in a way so that it follows the image when the browser window is being resised. Anyone can help me?

Thanks in advance

kosta, try something like this, all I'm doing is adding 2 new div tags. Change the top and height values until the flash movie is in the right place.
<div style="position: relative;">
<div style="position: absolute; top: 10px left: 10px;">
Flash here
</div>
<img>
</div>

Thanx dormedia for the reply.
ok, now the movie is on the image in the right position. What i can not find is how can i define a div tag as autostretch.

I mean, the divs that i've put do not react when the window is being resised, they are staying in the left side of the browser window.

thanxs

You need to put them inside your page in the source code where you want them, to output.

I did the 2 divs, the one inside the other but the whole thing is not behave like autostretch.

here is my code:

<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>

</style>
<span class="style1"></span>
<div style="position: relative;">
<div style="position: absolute; top: 30px left: 30px;left: 87px; top: 46px;">
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,19,0" width="550" height="400">

</object>
</div>

Hmm...Just testing if I have a smiley in my code like your code has..

Any good?

Fixed column width and autostretch columns:

A table column in Layout mode can have either a fixed width or a width that automatically expands to fill as much of the browser window as possible (autostretch).

Fixed-width columns have a specific numeric width, such as 300 pixels. Dreamweaver displays the column width for each fixed-width column at the top or bottom of the column.

Autostretch columns change automatically depending on the browser window’s width. If your layout includes an autostretch column, the layout always fills the entire width of the visitor’s browser window. You can make only one column in a given layout table autostretch. An autostretch column displays a wavy line in the column width area.

A common layout is to make the column containing the main content of the page autostretch, which automatically sets all the other columns to fixed width. For example, suppose your layout has a wide image on the left side of the page and a column of text on the right. You might set the left column to a fixed width and make the sidebar area autostretch.

When you make a column autostretch, Dreamweaver inserts spacer images in the fixed width columns to ensure that those columns stay as wide as they should be, unless you specify that no spacer image should be used. A spacer image is a transparent image, used to control spacing, that is not visible in the browser window. For more information, see Spacer images.

That's fine and all good Kate, but as you see we switched to a web standards solution and are using DIV's

I don't understand. I copy paste the code but it doesn't work like autostretch. whats wrong.

You most likely have the divs inside an element that has a set width.
Post all of your code, and let's have a look.

Thanks domedia for the replies

Maybe i´m confused about basic consepts of layout.
The first idea was that. I made an image in photoshop, i put that image in an autostretch cell. Then trying to put flash elements above that image, i placed them in layers in DW. The layers of course can not be autostretch, so, i get a page that some elements (the image from photoshop)were autostretching and some others (the ones in the layers) were static. I thought that i could make the layers to autostretch like the table. I think this is not the way it works. Can you give me a basic idea to start from, or recomend me a tutorial.

Thanks in advanced

kosta, sorry.. without seeing what you're doing, I can't tell you what to do. See my previous post.
