Hi,

I've been trying to get the right connection string for my ASP page to connect to SQL Server but I can't seem to get it to work. Error is "Data Source Name not found and no default driver specified".

Does anyone have the correct connection string from ASP to SQL Server

SQL Server is running on the same machine I'm developing on and the same as my test server. Server name is (local)

"Driver={SQL Server};Data Source=(Local);Initial Catalog=Northwind;User ID=dbo;Password=;

I don't have any of my old vb apps with me to see what connection string I used, and I haven't been able to find the right one on the web

Cheers

Lloyd

if it was PHP you would be up and running now. I cant help with ASP as i havnt used it for some time.

Give PHP ago and see how you feel

honestly you wont regret it

we dont have an ASP guru here so you would have to get your ASP help from somewhere else which is ashame coz this is a good forum

David,

I will give it a go, can I use SQL Server instead of MySQL wth PHP?

yes but i would advise using MYSQL because your host may not support that db with that langauge

ah ok, fair enough. I'll try with the existing sql server database and then setup a mysql database if that end up being the case

thanks again
