Guys,

Apologies in advance, I'm very new to Dreamweaver, just getting into more advanced web development after doing a few years on .NET windows apps. So, please bare with me if this is a real nOOb issue!!!:grin:

My first problem. I have created 10 or so very basic webpages from the same template, but as I move between them using links, there is a 2-3px jump on some pages. I just can't see why. All I have done is created these pages with the same shared elements, then added different text to a central div.

An example of what I mean see

Switch between Home and About Us pages and notice how the banner and other main areas shift. Its also different between ie and ff. In firefox, the about us page moves to the right, in ie it moves to the left! ARGHH.

Please ignore the rest, this is really initial stuff still work-in-progress !!!

Thanks
Bob

The only difference i saw (in ff) is the images below the menu.
they are in

#bigimages_index{
width:100%;
background-color:#fff;
height: 119px;
text-align: center;
padding: 5px 0px 0px 0px;
float: left;
}
and
#bigimages{
width:100%;
background-color:#fff;
height: 50px;
text-align: center;
padding: 5px 0px 5px 0px;
margin-left: 5px;
}

and are centering, so with the different image sizes must move.

Thanks for the response,

But even on pages where the images are the same size, I still get the pixel offset?

Example...

Any more ideas?

Thanks
Bob

staticbob,

This is what I think (sorry - here's what my son thinks) part of the problem might be:

When a page is short enough not to need vertical scroll bars in IE, then the scroll bar remains but is greyed out. In firefox the vertical scroll bar disappears entirely, changing the width of the page and upsetting any alignments and positionings that depend on it.

I'm having the same problem at the moment

Found this by searching the forum:

Simply use this code in css
html { height: 100%; margin-bottom: 1px; }
