View Full Version : Set background image to expand with the table and not re-tile

I have a very simply layout - 1 table with 3 cols, one row. In the middle column I've applied a background image to give the effect of a shadow. However, my image is a fixed size and I want the middle content area to stretch but I don't want the background image to re-tile, I want it to stretch as well. Is this even possible? See code below. I am working solely in the design mode and very new to dreamweaver but just want something that will look decent in most browsers. Thanks in advance!!

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" height="100%">
<td width="20%" height="100%">&nbsp;</td>
<td width="60%" height="100%" background="file:///Macintosh HD/johanna edwards.com/midtable.gif">&nbsp;</td>
<td width="20%" height="100%">&nbsp;</td>

I have read some articles about scaling images but have never tried it. If recall it is done basing image size on somethng other than pixels and then setting a percentage.
One of those things I meant to check and never did.
