this is reaally starting to annoy me now, i did the configure dreamweaver tutorial. but it still isnt working.

Do you leave the HTTP address completely alone? and also it says on the tutorial that the localhost is the webroot... do you have to do something to make it that?

if i click on local host using the wamp icon on the system tray it comes up with everything in my documents so im getting the local host in "my documents" how do u make it the web host directory?

cheers for ur help :)

when you installed wamp5 it asked you to set up the web root
if i click on local host using the wamp icon on the system tray it comes up with everything in my documents
this means that you have set My Documents as the web root

start by uninstalling it and reinstalling it using the default settings (dont change anything)

you can add an alias which points to the dir inside your My Documents then

ok kl, so everything is default but i have to folders in my documents, web root and local root. and then i get the console up and it says

http://localhost/test/
:

and i type in C:\Documents and Settings\Ali\My Documents\web root\

is that right?

read the instructions on the screen

if you have a dir in My Documents called remote then you would enter remote as the 1st step

the second step you just add the path including the dir...

C:/Documents and Settings/Davidj/My Documents/local_work/remote/

once done every file you place in that remote dir can ve viewed through...

http://localhost/remote/
