View Full Version : Search code for a "website" that is not on the web

Our Policy and Procedures Manual is designed like a website. Designed in Dreamweaver, runs in a browser.
It's located on our local file Server. Not on the web.
I need a way for our staff to quickly search for topics in the manual. It contains hundreds of policies and "how-tos".
If it were on the web, I could easily put Google searh on it.
But this "site" is on our Server. (We definitely don't want it on the web: Many pages are confidential.)
Is there code available that will search such a set of html pages?

best way would be to create a CMS (content management system) where all the text is stored in a database and therefore searchable. I know your not a computer person so maybe this is too advanced.

There are some client side search scripts available but they take allot of tweaking.

if you know HTML then you could try and add a scripting language to your skillset like PHP. This will take time. There is no instant fix.
