View Full Version : My dropdowns are flickering in IE

04-14-2007, 04:18 AM
Iím having trouble with my dropdown menu. It works fine in Firefox but not IE. When I hover over the three middle links the dropdowns flicker rather than stay stable.

Iíve had a play with the z index putting the closer at both 1 and 6 and trying various combinations of showing and hiding things.

Can someone please tell me what Iím missing.

you have some strange stuff going on there

<a href="#" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('Image4','','images/menu20r.gif',1)"><img src="images/menu20.gif" name="Image4" width="140" height="25" border="0" id="Image4" onmouseover="MM_showHideLayers('menu02','','show','menu03','',' hide','closer','','show')" /></a>

you have an onmouseover event in the <img tag and the <a href. This is firing 2 JS functions at the same time on the same event which are clashing

remove the one from your <a href and edit the second one like this...

onmouseover="MM_showHideLayers('menu02','','show','menu03','',' hide','closer','','show'); MM_swapImage('Image4','','images/menu20r.gif',1)"

Hi David

Thank you. I have tidied up the code but it still makes no difference to the dropdowns in IE. They still flicker. And they disappear as soon as the mouse hovers over them. I have tried the closer as z index 6 but that doesn't make any difference and I think it's supposed to be 1 anyway.

Any other suggestions???
