I have a normal ftp site and I want to stream a video. I know that true streaming is impossible, but I do know that I can do just like streaming and this is called progressive download I think.

I've looked on the net to learn how to do this, but I was unable to find anything. Can you guys help me?

thank you very much

is this the only way?

probably not but its the best way

not sure how else you would do it though

its like this... (analogy coming up)

Q -> "how do i drive round the track very fast???"
A -> "err buy a ferrari"

Q -> "is there another way"
A -> "yes... buy a Bugatti Veyron"

you need some bespoke software to handle your task and flash has included a plugin for such a task.. Its your Bugatti!

profound eh!

Im using the one that flash 8 provide.

I open Flash and say : import video. And then I select progressive download and it work fine, except for one thing; I cannot have the movie control bar.

True streaming can only be done if you run a flash server. For us mortal people that can afford that, progressive loading is a damn nice option still.

Reflexion you have to use the video encoder that comes with flash 8 pro and convert your movie file to the Flash Video format (FLV)
