Hello all

I am a web developer for the past 10 years and have to ask what is the point of hotlinking?
Why does it concern my sites?
Is it bad, good or why is there even a term called hotlinking?

I don't think most people even understand HTML.

Hi Paws and welcome.
There is a term called hotlinking; it's when you use images from other peoples websites on your website through the SRC attribute. I'm curious though how you can be a web developer for 10 years and not know about this..

Of course most people don't understand HTML :) Why would they?

I don't think most people even understand HTML

Nor do they understand quantum mechanics

all i can say is ...

<qf(tf)| qi(ti)> = dq[t]eiA[q]

Hi domedia thanks

I don't know how to answer this one...

Ok I know what hotlinking is, what I meant to say was how can it be bad for my sites.(it's only bandwidth isnt' it)

Yes davidj people don't understand quantum mechanics, but I know about quantum physics, that looks like a alot of fun trying to decode (<qf(tf)| qi(ti)> = dq[t]eiA[q]) from wherever that cam from.

By Hotlinking you are loosing control over your content. If the item that you hotlink is removed then that will also effect your site too.
