Is there a way to style input based on type and a method which is cross browser compatible?

Selectors are not and i know simple way of doing it is using different classes but that cannot be used in my case.

From what I could read, that solution is IE only. Am I right?

What I do is to apply a seperate CSS class to different elements and style it that way.

Yeh DOM thats what i do, but this was required to as a fix for a already done project.

They used same class for input and buttons.

So i wanted to implement things specifically to buttons only with minimum effort and without changing classes for all buttons.
