Howdy DW Friends , I want to use an swf file as a nav button in dreamweaver
ie. link it to the other pages in the site, since the link options aren't there when I add the file I can't find a way of doing . I'm hoping that this doesn't
have to be done inside flash but at any rate it'd be good to find the easiest
way to go about it

I'm hoping that this doesn't
have to be done inside flash Unfortunately it does, *unless* you are inserting the flash buttons that comes with DW, in case the links are added when you make them.

it does have to be done in flash but its easy, a lot of people think flash is daunting but doing things like this is actually very straightforward.

The only problem I can think of is if you don't have flash.

If you want to know the code get back to me.

give your button and instance name in flash (using the bottom left hand corner of the properties bar) this code assumes that you have given the button the instance name of b1.

Now create a new layer and name it Actions and lock it.

Now select the first key frame in the actions layer and press F9 to open the actions panel and type this code.

b1.onRelease = function() {
getURL("http://www.domain.co.uk/your_file.html", "_self");

change _self if you don't want the page to replace just like you would in Dreamweaver.
