View Full Version : How do I make a download window appear when my mp3 files are clicked?

I'm making a site which is going to have radio recordings available to download as mp3's.
I've made a link to the mp3 file in my root folder. But in IE but when I click the link to download the file I just get the little download symbol in the bottom left corner of the browser. And in Firefox the file starts playing in Quicktime.
What I want to know is how do I get the download window to appear which asks the user do they want to save or play the file?
Any advice gratefully received.

dont think you can because this would be a client setting..

if i had configured my Quicktime to play my media files i would be a bit upset if a site or plugin ignored my wishes.

you could do a right click and save target as message

I've seen little scripts lying around for this. Something about triggering mime-type and some active-x vodoo for IE maybe..
