Hello,

http://www.nocco.co.uk/test/index.html
This is a homepage that I designed, but was put together by someone who knows their CSS! Looks great, now I'm trying to put together some additional pages, as I'm finally getting round learning CSS myself

http://www.nocco.co.uk/test/events.html
So this is a practice page, a sketch of an events page I want to put together. There's a long way to go from a design perspective but I'm getting the hang of it!

I decided to start my own css file 'events.css' in addition to the existing ones (which make up banner, footer etc) because i'm learning from scratch and i find the other guy's technique a bit confusing at the moment!

The main thing i can't seem to get right at the moment is the right column. You might see straight away what is wrong with it, it's absolutely positioned from top which is not ideal, so the content in the top (coming up section) can't exeed a certain amount because the column won't shift down. Also when you make the browser narrower the column moves over the content on the left rather than stopping at the minimum width like everything else does

Also, when viewing on IE 6, some wierd things happen - with list items with id="textRight" the pink background is overflowing right to the left edge of the browser! But then sits back in place when you make the browser narrower... And then the borders are not showing, is that just an issue with this version of IE?

Thanks in advance!

Pat

Hi Pat, you must have gotten it fixed because it looks great here. :)
What was your fix?

Hi, thanks for the reply :)

Either you looked the wrong page or I gave a really bad explanation!! The home page is perfect. But this is my attempt -

http://www.nocco.co.uk/test/events.html

What I meant was that layout wise it looks exactly how I want it, but i know it's not the correct way of positioning that right column with the blue background. Because if i want to add more content to the top 'coming up' section, then it spills over the column rather than pushing it down. Everything else moves down as it should but the column stays put!

Also if you make your browser narrower you will see that the column moves over the content on the left, rather than stopping at the min width like everything else on the page does.....

It must be an error in how i'm using the float property but everything else i've tried produces worse results!

Any ideas?

Cheers
