View Full Version : Different appearance in IE6 & Firefox

Hello,

I have just started building a website using HTML and CSS, and I have come up against a problem. The page can be viewed here:

http://www.zafrans.co.uk/krpsupplies/index.html

When viewed in IE6 it looks as I would expect, but in Firefox the main text is not displayed correctly. I am sure is has something to do with the way that the two browsers handle floated content, but I can't find a simple fix for this.

I also have a very NOOBish question. Why is it when I specify a padding value on the head div, it extends the overall width of the div? If this is the correct behaviour I should expect, how else do you guys suggest I position the h1 element?

Many thanks in advance for you time and help.

Cheers

Rob

Try to set a margin-left on your paragraps. Enough to span the whole nav (175px?), that might help.

Padding *is* in addition to the box, read out tutorials on the CSS Box Model.

Hi domedia,

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure why I didn't try that, but thanks it worked a treat.

Was this error caused by a difference in the way firefox and ie6 handle floats?

If you want to see it working, check out the link again.

Many thanks

Rob

Was this error caused by a difference in the way firefox and ie6 handle floats? Yes! :) Just because you use web standards, doesn't mean there ain't browser differences out there ;)
