I am working on my first major website and I having problems with my tables or at least I think thats the problem. I created this site on my G4 using Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Flash. I created various templates and style sheets to make the site more manageable.

However, the problem I am having is that when I preview the site in safari everything looks great. When I preview it in firefox or explorer on a PC some of the pages specifically some of the sub pages have gaps in them.

The site is set up using one master template that controls the top menu and bottom bar. The sub pages are nested templates. I used style sheets to set the side table colors and all text formating.

I did check to make sure that all the tables are set at to fixed. But that doesn't seem to help at all.

I thought the problem might be with the style sheets, but after taking one of the problem pages and removing the style sheets, I still had the same problem.

Attached to this post are is a pic showing my problem

Any words of wisdom would be deeply appreciated...

I thought the problem might be with the style sheets, but after taking one of the problem pages and removing the style sheets, I still had the same problem. Sounds more a case of not using CSS where appropiate. Whereever the gap is, use CSS to control it.
Until you give any url/code noone can help you with anything. Staring at pictures has nothing to do with coding :-/

I decided to start over again and rebuild the site. This seems to be working better because I no longer have gaps in between the cells. However I can't figure out how to keep them from changing size in the browser window.

I want them to stay at a fixed size. I have set them at fixed in the properties inpector box. I have tryed setting custom CCS styles but either I am not doing something correctly or I should be doing it another way because I haven't been able to get that to work.

Any words of wisdom?

I want them to stay at a fixed size. This is a local setting. People that change font size, usually have a very good reason (vision impaired, different device etc)

Moving to dreamweaver forum

Thanks for your input! I do like this feature that allows the user to chnage the view for his or her vision. I am trying to keep the site constant and would like the entire site to adjust when this happenss and not have inconstnat pages.

For example when you toggel between these two links

http://www.mainsailproductions.com/clients/kmcpet/getscan.htm
http://www.mainsailproductions.com/clients/kmcpet/getscan_sub2.htm

the size of the cells change. On one page the the navigation items are consitent, but when content is added that requires the user to scroll it strechs the cells.

Is there a way to fix this so that it is constant throughout the whole site?

My friend helped me out with some coding on the site. And I realized I had built the pages incorrectly. I was trying to get multiple cells and their content to line up and remain fixed when I should have been working with one cell, for the side menu, and just putting all my graphics in it.

Doing that and reworking some of my code fixed the problem.
