<table width="100%" height="1200" align="center">

Here is an example of a table with a height specified. Height is not a valid specification for tables, but I see it frequently in code seen here through a URL given for forum members to provide advice.

The actual problem discussed may have nothing to do with the height, or it might be a big problem. Why does height get specified so many times? Can Dreamweaver be creating this specification? Or maybe the users are getting code from elsewhere with this specification?

What gives with the invalid height specification for tables?

Table heights.. LOL what a laugh. Why on earth would anyone want a height of 1200? LOL.

People.. a table cell will grow according to it's content YOU DO NOT NEED A HEIGHT!

People use height in table tags because they use tables for layout.

Height is not a valid attribute for tables because tables were intended for tabular data structure, not for site layout.

Many people don't care about regular validation, and measure validation based on if the code works in their test browsers. I don't think it's a big problem. Browsers that don't support the height attribute with tables will most likely ignore the attribute anyways.
