View Full Version : streaming QT video - don't want 'frame' or 'imbed'

1. I've been having trouble ... people coming on the site have found that they can't open my QT movie via the page I've imbedded it in, the QT frame (imbedded in a page) pops up with a question mark, and won't play; but if they skip the link and simply type in the .mov extension, instead of the .html of the imbedding page ... then they can run the movie.

Never had this trouble before with Dreamweaver. But recently upgraded a generation. Could this be something in Dreamweaver?

2. I currently have my Quicktime movies imbedded in pages that come up when the link is clicked.

If I link directly to the movie itself (bypassing the imbedding page) I get a large white page around the movie.

I'd like to be able to create a link that just opens the Quicktime movie, no page, no frame. I've seen it elsewhere. What do I need to do?

Thank you,

Ben

Thank you Creative,

A good site. Yeah. I want to be able to stream\download QT H264 clips like these without having problems ...

Any suggestions, based on my above situation?

Well my ones are just database links and no embedding or anything.. just the link to the mov file and walla. But the viewer MUST have either qt or qta installed on their system or it ain't gunna work.

And when they open is there just the standard QT frame around the movie? Or are they opening in a separate page - surrounded by white?

Just opens in the detail page which shows the image, name and the mov file.

But you can have it open by default at first load also. We use to do that but it slowed down the load time for the main index and that was ugly which is why it was changed to how it is now.

Yo Creative Insanity,

I didn't realise that site you sent me to was yours! ... slow brain ... lovely job. Very elegant site.

Before I upgraded my Dreamweaver to ver.8 I'd done a whole bunch of video clips that just popped up and began playing instantly...

http://thunderboltsfilm.com/PAGES/video_clips.html

Then I went to DW8 and set up a new collection of clips ... that insist on a complete download before they begin to play (except for the very first one, which starts playing immediately?)...

http://thunderboltsfilm.com/PAGES/film_sequences.html

I'm trying to figure out what I might have changed, what little box I must have clicked or unclicked so the clips no longer stream immediately.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated...
