I have been using FrontPage (I know it's a swear word LOL) and it's very easy to insert bookmarks. I can't seem to figure out how to do the same thing in Dreamweaver ..... is it really this hard or am I just missing it?

Hi moondog,
Can you explain a little more in detail please? Bookmarks are usually a browser feature, not a page editor feature. Do you want to have shortcuts to certain pages you edit more often than others?

What I have is a very "long" page ..... what I want is to have a few links at the top that link to parts of the same page further down. Also to have links that would take a viewer back to the top by clicking on them ..... it's called bookmarks in FrontPage, I have no idea what it would be called in Dreamweaver

They are called anchors (in HTML and DW) In Dreamweaver the little anchor button on the common menu is what you are looking for. Just click on it and and it will drop an invisible element on the page which you can now link to.

Here is an example of how it works...

<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>

<body>

Link to anchor (#test)</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

</p>

<a name="test"></a>Anchor</p>
</body>
</html>
