Hi,

I recently acquired a laptop for working on the go that runs Windows XP Home Edition. Since I would have to upgrade to XP Pro to have access to Microsoft IIS, I decided to go with an Apache Server Bundle from XAMPP.ORG (Apache Server, MySQL, PHP, PERL, etc.)

I loaded the software and it appears to work fine. Now I just need to connect my websites in Dreamweaver to the Apache server on my laptop via the "Testing Server" configuration screen.

Does anyone know how to do this?......Help

drop a blank page in your testing server directory

phpinfo.php

add this to the page

<?php

phpinfo();

?>

now browse this page through your browser using http

you should see lots of info about PHP. If this is the case then PHP is setup correctly so just follow the tutorials about setting up a site in DW

Normally XAMPP is installed with a installer or exe
If you installed as installer than this should be your root (if you havent changed the basic settings)
C:\Program Files\xampp\htdocs

If you have used self extracting exe than you can look for \xampp\htdocs where ever you extracted it.

If your XAMPP setup is ok you can use this http://localhost it will display you XAMPP page or you can test as DJ said with phpinfo.php.

For setting it as testing server, in your dreamweaver site go to testing server, select server model as PHP and MySQL and access as local/Network.
In Testing server folder give the path of your files and prefix keep it as it is unless you are creating a folder inside root.
Say in root files are in project1 folder, so prefix will be
http://localhost/project1

Hope this helps , if not give a shout :D
