Think I'm going to go with Godaddy's Economy Plan.

One of the features of this plan is "50 Email Forwards".

I'm probably going to go "DOH" when I find out what "50 Email Forwards" are but I'm not sure. Can someone explain it to me in laymans terms?

Thanks.

WOW! these guys are cheap!
I might move there onto their Delux plan. I am really impressed at what I see.
Not unlimited databases, but I can manage 25 I guess with some cleaning.

I guess by email forwards they mean email forwarders.

You can have people send email to support@newdomain.com without actually setting up an email account for that email address. When email is sent to that address, it's just redirected to support@olddomain.com.

On a side note: GoDaddy does not have a good reputation as a hosting compeny. You might want to google for some customer reviews. I have some domains with them, which they do a good job with.

Thanks guys!

And Domedia,

I did a quick search and yeah....their customer service doesn't look good.

I am new at this stuff and spent the last four months building my first website. I still don't understand most of the terminolgy...even the basic stuff. So, I assume I'll need good customer service. At the very least, I know I'll need "ease of use".

Any recommendations, anyone? I sure like Godaddy's pricing but.....

Hmmm...Godaddy isn't looking so hot. I called them earlier to ask a couple questions and not only was the individual not friendly, they weren't helpful either.

I found another hosting company that looks appealing to me: http://www.thinkhost.com/options/packages/net-launch.shtml

Anyone want to opine on that hosting plan?

Also, though my site isn't big (entire file is 2 MB), I plan to make small changes/additions nearly daily. Will a plan like the above support this kind of activity?

Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to get this stuff figured out....

Thanks.

I have one site at Godaddy, but I don't expect any support to be needed for it. All my other sites are in a reseller account at:

http://www.linuxwebhost.com

They are located in Baltimore, Maryland, and have always provided good technical support and a competitive price. Do you care about location?

The recipe to find a host is actually pretty simple..
Service, Cost, Size - Choose two ;)

My 2 personal favorites are:
Service: Insiderhosting
Size/Cost: Site5

I consider location, too. Not in California, for example.

probably a bit late, but....
www.crystaltech.com
www.carolhost.com

are two I'd reccomend to look at.
they got the price right, disk space right, and plenty of bandwidth.
the 2nd one there - has excellent support, 2nd I'v not had any dealings with so can't comment.
