If I have published a site using Dreamweaver MX 2004, and I delete a file on my hard disk, DW does not delete that file on the web host, or even tell me that there is an extra file there. This is unlike some other software tools.

So, am I correct? If I want to delete the file, I should go to the remote view with DW and delete the file there. Nothing is automatic.

Right, if you accidentally deleted the whole domain on your hardrive, this would not automatically delete the site from your host.

For file control you might look into CVS.

Those unused files on your server/webhost site must be deleted manually. There they will reside until you remove them.

I couldn't seem to find a price for CVS, but some of the pages imply that this system requires a payment. Can you tell us?

It's open source.
