View Full Version : Anchor secondary pages to specific images on the "Home

03-07-2006, 01:47 AM
Hi All

How can I anchor secondary pages to the orginal image on the home page?

You'll see what I mean if you click on images towards the bottom of this site.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions,

On your secondary page, click on the image and insert link back to the original page :)
.. or maybe I misunderstood your question?

I want to revert back to the original image. Currently when you click on the secondary image it reverts back to the top of the home page. This causes viewers to scroll down on the home page to return to the original image.
Thanks for your feedback,

Thanks for your responses.
I have printed off instructions from the help menu on "named" anchors.

Lets say u have a long page of text, and at the bottom you want a link back to the start of the content.
<a id="top" name="top"></a> //spot where u want the anchor

Code that wraps around the text at the bottom of ur content
Back to Top >> (#top)

make sense.

I followed the Dreamweaver help instructions for "Named" anchors in a different document but in the same folder. It accomplished what I was looking for.
Thanks for all your help!
The key in this situation was nailing down the specific name for the action I wanted to create.
My 1st night on your forum was very worth while.
Thanks again!

OK guys I spoke to soon!
I'm batting about 70%
Some of my named anchors are working and others are not.
I have checked to make sure everything is named correctly and is case sensitive.
Any suggestions to why some are working and others are not?
Thanks again,

Do a search for anchor as this has been covered before.

My search on Named Anchors didn't help.
Why do the majority of my named anchors work, but just a few do not?
I have checked the code to make sure everything is consistent. Everything is named correctly and is case sensitive.
This is the site I'm having troubles with. www.tlsgraphics.net/Cabin05.htm
Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you are meaning the image click back and forth, seems to work fine from here.

I have been told it works fine using "Fire Fox" for a browser.
I use IE.

What I'm trying to accomplish is...
After enlarging the image (i.e. SmBath to LgBath) I want to return to the orginal image (i.e. SmBath). I don't want to force viewers to scroll down each time they return from a large image. Note: Only the last 3 rows have "Named" anchors.
Only 2 of the anchors are not working.
SmBath / LgBath
SmSingleBeds / LgSingleBeds

Thanks for your assistance,

They all worked for me in IE and Firefox.

Remember to clear cache when viewing a page in development, in IE use the combination CTRL+F5 to force a fresh reload of your page.

Ony two of the images don't return correctly.
The most upsetting one is the very last image in the lower right corner.
I have tried refreshing.
I have even tried deleting the images that are giving me troubles and re-creating them.
I guess it will remain a mystery........................................... ..
Have a happy Thursday!

Sorry, your suggestion didn't work.
No big deal..
I'm not going to mess with the anchors any more.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Well, I downloaded Firefox for my browser and all my "Named" anchors work beautifully.

Go figure
