I wonder, which language to choose to learn if i want to make a site which requires password to get access (for example)?

I think most people here would recommend PHP, altough ASP is a good alternative as well. And don't forget Coldfusion which was developed by Macromedia itself ;)

HTML has no simlar charicteristics to PHP other than you wrap PHP in a tag like HTML

visit the PHP website as there is loads of documentation there then you need to build somthing which would need some dynamic controls.

a football site for keeping results of matches for example

we are here to help if you get stuck

PHP is not hard. Many of the books on it give examples of what you want.

You can read a PHP book at Barnes & Noble or Borders for free and find the code you want. Perhaps someone here can point you to code online.

A VTM would be just great!!! Especially if it shows how to hundle with fixed scripts (scripts that you download from the web for example)

LN that is asking how long is a piece of string.

I will upload a book I wrote at the birth of php4 which should get you started on knowing what things are and help you understand the concepts of php.
It has some small exercises as well and how to setup a development server on both windows and linux.
Just remember that the book is copyright and you are not allow to print any part of it anywhere.. and if you do my lawyer will have your arse. LOL

Keep your eye on the front of the site for when dom links it.
