macromedia.com I still think is THE palce for technical info.
I have never seen anyone doing VTM's for Flash for free.
CI, you know anyone in your vtm community that has some? (heck maybe even willing to share some ;) )

flash itself has fairly easy to follow directions under the Help>How Do I?
that should get you started.

also, http://www.flashkit.com has lots of tutorials.

All the flash VTM's I have seen are commercial.
I also make commercial flash vtms which are under contract to another company and for that reason I cannot host or give them away for free.
They are also inhouse which means not for sale.
Sorry so I cannot help.
I agree about flashkit, as that would be the best resource on the net for flash.
