I have a website with 20,000+ html files in it.

Every time I open dreamweaver it decides to recreate the site cache (I have no idea why) this of course takes ages and locks up my machine... is there any way to stop dreamweaver recreating the site cache every time or turning this feature off...

ANy help much appreciated.

If you look at the files panel and in the dropdown select manage sites. Select your site in the right panel in the window that shows and then click edit.
Near the bottom of the local settings you will see a check box called enable cache, uncheck that.

Disabling cache doesn't really solve anything, just removes the symptom.
This might be due to a corrupt cache file (.dws)

You can find the cache file at C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\SiteCache

Look for "mySite.dws", where "mySite" is the name of the site you are trying to open. Delete the .dws file and try to start Dreamweaver again. If you're able to open the site, rebuild the cache.
