Hi,

Fairly new to the web designing world, after I designed my site previously and posted on here it didn't get too good a response, (as it looked like a template- which I agreed it did!)

Just after some feedback on new site design www.gregfindley.com

As always your help/advice/suggestions appreciated!

Thanks,
Greg

you have a great design scheme but its missing the artistic magic. It needs work

you need some inspiration.. get it here www.cwd.dk

also you have written...
Working in association with a printing firm I can offer competitive prices on design & print business stationery, brochures and promotional items.

i would loose ....
Working in association with a printing firm
coz nobody needs to know that. You are offering the service so claim this as your own service

OK thanks for your suggestions,

Ive previously been told to take a look on that site!
Just seems I cant get that illusive "magic touch"!!!

Greg

(I have made the change as you suggested-your right-it does sound better!)

I think it looks great!
Drop the 'under construction' banner, websites are aways under construction.

Find a complimentary color or 2 to your blue background.
I great tool is http://wellstyled.com/tools/colorscheme2/index-en.html which I use somtimes.
The background of your content are is #7071C1.
Here's a list of colors that wouldn't be too bad to use:
#7A7CC1
#565787
#E8E8FF
#D0D2FF
#C1A870
#87764E
#FFF7E4
#FFEEC9
#C1C070
#87874E
#FFFFE4
#FFFFC9
#A470C1
#734E87
#F6E4FF
#ECC9FF

yeah it does look ok but as dom said it needs a contrast. Umm the under construction thing is a put off as if many people see them they won't go any further cause they will think some parts don't work, and as dom said a site is never finished. You will always be adding things here and there.

another great place to look for different ideas and color schemes is www.coolhomepages.com

they have a portfolio section, showing different ways to present your work.

the page looks nice, but more colors would be good, to pull out the important information.

OK thanks,

I'm going to re-work the colour scheme and see if I can make it look a bit more 'punchy'!

Will post on here when done for more feedback!

Thanks,
Greg

Just remember NEVER settle for 'that'll do' and when you get in the habbit of not excepting that you will find that your perfection will grow to the point of being damn annoying. LOL

Ive just installed new firefox on my pc, and think i know what you mean about the movement, its just where the scroll bar becomes active on the pages with scrolling content, then disappears on the others?

Is that the same on your Mac?

Thanks, Greg

Hi Mate,
Your website contact form gets submitted with empty values, my 2 cents will be make the name and email field required in your contact form.

Creative Insanity
03-14-2006, 07:17 PM
Ohh nasty.. yeah ram is correct. Always make feilds required as you may get a bunch of nothing emails.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

I will do that, and yes I do keep getting empty submition forms, and also the odd spam one!

Can anyone help me out on making the form so it requires submissions to submit ?! (lol)

And I had been thinking about the price advertising, I may change it to "from £xx" :D

Thanks,
Greg

Looks really good to me. Can you accept work from other than the UK? If so, how would you get paid?

I would change & to "and" in text, though. Your example with the BBC domain name is not so great, any registered trademark cannot be registered by other than the trademark owner.

I can, and it would most likely be PayPal, although I haven't advertised this on my site.

Thanks for the advice on changin & to and, does look more professional, and about the BBC -didn't even think of what you mentioned!

Thanks,
Greg

I still think that & should be replaced with "and" but perhaps you don't agree.

Your printing page still has some ampersands, and worse yet, one of the links doesn't work at all. Check all your links out.

http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html is a free link checking program. Works great, just ignore the political ideas.
