I know that you folks have discussed this problem before but I see no resolution.

I am attempting to connect to a mysql db that I am 100% sure is up and running from WinXP and dreamweaver 8 gives me the dreaded "An Unidentified Error Has Occurred" dialog. I have checked that my _mmServerScripts dir is on the remote server but I get no connection.

I am running FC4, PHP 4.4.1 and MySQL 4.0.16.

helpppppp....

can you make the connectio with another utility like cuteFTP or even windows explorer?

with no trouble at all. the db is a production db we use every day. only DW8 refuses to connect.

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled DW8 (and removed DWMX in the process) and the problem went away. sorry to have bothered you.

I don't think it is a bother especially if somebody has a similar problem Was this an upgrade from MX to DW8?

Yes. It is actually an upgrade to the demo version of DW8. Thanks again for the help.

I have had 8 do this before as well. Use 2004 and if connects fine, use 8 and that horried error. I personally think 8 is full of bugs.
Can't wait till Adobe release Golive with DW features (less the bugs) then we will be cooking. LOL

Prefer my way around dom.
GoLive has some awesome features. You should have a play with it.
I used it for some time before php hit my computer and then found it lacked that support which is why I switched.. but DW php stuff in golive would be so cool.
