Hi, I am making a page, where I want the text on it to read from top to bottom, instead of the normal left to right, any ideas, I have tried everything I knew (not much)

example, I dont want this; SERVICES, but do want this, as attached.....hopefully.
I also dont want this;

s
e
r
v
i
c
e
s

So you want it like the text below?

I done that in Photoshop.

1. Create your text.
2. Rasterize the type layer.
3. Press Ctrl + T and rotate it how you want.
You could also go Transform and rotate 90 CW

or if you like a bit of overkill

<?php
$im=imagecreate(30,130);
$bg = imagecolorallocate($im,254,153,0);
$tx = imagecolorallocate($im,255,255,255);
imagestring($im,20,10,20,"S",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,33,"E",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,46,"R",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,59,"V",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,72,"I",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,85,"C",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,98,"E",$tx);
imagestring($im,20,10,111,"S",$tx);
imagepng($im,"pic.png");
imagedestroy($im);
?>

<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<img src="pic.png" border=0>
</body>

:rolleyes:

ey up come on, I know Im a girl, :P but I did realise I could do it with pics, hence the example, I simply wanted to do it with text alone, I am developing a template, and the backgrounds on each image are slightly different, hence they dont acurately fit the template, which is why I wanted to do it with simple text.

this is the only option available i think

and its a cheat and you only have this direction to play with (top - bottom)
<div id="Layer1" style=" writing-mode:tb-rl;">SERVICE</div>
i dont know how much support it has so you better do your home work.
I hate it but i had to answer your question...please dont use it... It looks dodgy to me

Excellent, it works, but I will take your advice and give it a miss.

Thanks

<div id="Layer1" style=" writing-mode:tb-rl;">SERVICE</div>
i dont know how much support it has so you better do your home work.
writing-mode:tb-rl is IE only.
There's future support for an effect like this in CSS-3 http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/CR-css3-text-20030514/ ('http://www.w3.org/TR/2003/CR-css3-text-20030514/')
