Hello all,
I am new to web design but I want to produce a simple website with a forum like this one.Is there an easy way to do this?I have seen several sites where the design of the forum is basically the same,is there software I can download to emulate these forums??Thanks in advance if someone can advise me on this!

phpbb ('http://www.phpbb.com') (my choice)
Invision Power Board ('http://www.invisionpower.com/') (commercial)
Vbulletin ('http://www.vbulletin.com/') (commercial)
Simple Machines ('http://www.simplemachines.org/') (sucky)
These would be the most popular.

First of all thanks for the quick response creative insanity!!How difficult is it for a complete novice to get say phBB up and running with basic webpages?I have never built a site before, but I have a good idea of what I want to produce.Basically just a simple site with a forum, with maybe the capability for visitors to upload their wildlife photographs.Your help is much appreciated!

It is pretty easy as they come with docs that help the novice install and get it running.
You can also go to phpbbhacks ('http://www.phpbbhacks.com/') and get a ton of addons (they call them hacks(I prefer to call them mods)).
