View Full Version : Holy Smokes my site threw up. (Literally)

Wow um...
Where to being, so after a suggestion from one of the awesome people here, I thought I would pioneer into the world of javascript (Having no code experience..whatsoever.) and I jumped in with happy happy good times. And then my site threw up. Images were flying everywhere, the table was destroyed, and some of the images that were "supposed" to be there, sort of...ran away.

Nothing was lost, since I kept a backup (As I always do when I'm pioneering.)
but I'm still clueless to do what I had hoped.

</div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (Hardyman)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'>Also while you are at it I would make a slice of the polaroid. Then you can do a random images and every time somebody goes to your site that image changes. Basic HTML. Sorry tangent.[/quote:d4210b3288]

now, the polaroid of discussion can be seen Here ('http://www.studentaxis.com/newlook.htm')

And I have the code from the sliced up version, (Granted its not entirely done yet, but the code for the slices/image in question) here:
<span style='color:gray'>
<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style type="text/css">
.style1 {
font-size: 12px;
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
.style2 {font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; }
body {
margin-left: 0px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: 0px;
background-color: #660000;

<div align="center">
<table width="200" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
<td colspan="2" background="../images/New-Look_14.gif"></td>
<td background="../images/New-Look_17.gif"><span class="style1">Questions or Comments? Contact the Webmaster (Studentaxis@studentaxis.com) </span></td>
<td background="../images/New-Look_18.gif" class="style2">Site <FONT size=-1>&copy;</FONT> Adam Goodreau 2005 </td>
<map name="Map">
<area shape="rect" coords="-3,-3,79,30" href="../index.htm">
<area shape="rect" coords="76,-11,211,29" href="../axisnews.htm">
<area shape="rect" coords="212,-3,297,30" href="../teams.htm">
<map name="Map2">
<area shape="rect" coords="-21,-10,105,31" href="pictures.htm">
<area shape="rect" coords="103,-8,186,31" href="../links.htm">
What I'm trying to do is get the slice (the one where New-Look_10.gif is located) to have randomized pictures every time someone refreshes/revisists the site. I have the random pictures ready to go, they have been sliced with the background and the rest of the stuff in it. And saved in my local folder. Where I become clueless is getting the pictures to be random. Inserting any code (Refer back to "No code experience") and Getting them to be in that part of the table.

Any help is GREATLY! Appreciated!!!
Thanks so much in advance,
In Christ,

Ok, I lied...that link didn't work. At all

You didn't lie. The link works, except that all your image files are pointing to your own hard drive and not to image files on your server.

As in this line:
<td><img src="file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/goodreau/My%20Documents/Axis%20Site%20-%20Redone/images/New-Look_01.gif" width="162" height="181"></td>

As to getting the random image, search google for "random image javascript" and you will find numerous examples and free scripts to do what you want.
