View Full Version : Mouseover text event

Hello all,

I'm new to these forums and I hope someone can help me with this.

I like to have a text link, and when I mouseover it, an Image is anchored to the mousepointer while the mouse stays over the link. Is this possible in Dreamweaver MX2004?

(I'm a complete newb when it comes to Dreamweaver and all that stuff.. :D)

Hiya Fungal and welcome to the dw club. :)
Do you have a link with an example of what you are trying to do?

Hya domedia,

It sounds to me like he wants a 'mouse trailer of sorts but with one image.instead of several I do have an example but its made in Swish.

I never saw this in action on a site so I can't supply you a link but maybe I can explain it a bit better if I use an example.

I have a list of books in alphabetical order, and each bookname is a link to a .pdf file of the book. Now what I want is, when I mouse over the link to a book, that a small image of the front cover(of that book) is anchored to my mouse while the mouse stays over the link(like a small preview window). Then when the mouse leaves the Link area(the hand turns into a pointer again) the image dissapears.

I hope this explanation is a bit better then the first one :D

If I need to clarify it more, please ask, so I can try to explain it a bit better.

Thanks in advance,

What you want is tool tips

Search for "tooltip" on google

After Googling some things up about tooltips, I've found something that can be the base of my idea.

http://www.communitymx.com/content/article...age=3&cid=4E2C0 ('http://www.communitymx.com/content/article.cfm?page=3&cid=4E2C0')

This site has, under the ''Code Block 4'' title a nice text link, and when hovered over, a text is displayed next to it. Now the question is.. Can I put an Image there, where they put the ''Tooltip text!'' on the example site?

(Im reading some of their tutorials now so i may find the answer there, I'll get back to you if I can't find a thing.)

After reading the 2 first artivles it turns out I havce to pay for the next... I think im in the right direction though..

Tx for the tooltip tip :D

btw. How do I edit my own post :S?

EDIT: Ah, I can edit it now, I guess it has to do with some sort of time limit.

Hiya Fungal,

I'm not convinced ToolTips is really what you're after?

Would you prefer to try and do something like this?

I know the size and examples are bad - but when you mouseover the text on the left the image on the right changes - so you'd have your pics of books there?

Thank you all for the replies.

It turned out for me that I used the thing from this site.

And after a bit of fiddling around with it, I got what I wanted.

Thanks all,
