How do I know which format my files are being transferred to my server in? I've searched the preferences and cannot find anything that allows me to set this. I need to upload some files as ascii and not binary and wanted to know how to do this.

Most FTP clients will detect this automatically so it shouldn't really be a problem. Try it and see if it works by default for you.

domedia, thanks for that, but I'm using Dreamweaver as my ftp and cannot find the configuration tab to see if the default is set to binary because when I use Dreamweaver to upload php or cgi files to my server it sends them as binary or so my host is telling me. Before I bought Dreamweaver MX 2004 I used to use Frontpage in combination with WS_FTP Pro. I'm just trying to avoid the extra step of using WS_FTP Pro to save some time. Can this be done?

FTPExtensionMap.txt file located in the Configuration folder inside the Dreamweaver application folder.

Mine is located here

C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration

change binary to ascii wherever needed
